This module examines how ICH safeguarding is intertwined with European integration, exploring the EU’s cultural policies, the principle of subsidiarity, and how traditions from Romania, Poland, and other countries contribute to a shared European identity.


Learning Objectives

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

  • Identify the nexus between ICH and European integration.
  • Apply EU cultural policies in order to nurture ICH.
  • Analyse examples of ICH from the perspective of core EU principles such as subsidiarity and unity in diversity.
  • Evaluate the role of Creative Europe and other EU programmes in supporting ICH.
