This article presents the theoretical framework for evaluating cultural heritage and the economic effects of investments in its conservation and restoration. The methods considered are: impact studies, the hedonic pricing method, the contingent value method, and the transportation cost method. The paper examines the methodological aspects, implementation difficulties, and limitations specific to each method. Each method is also illustrated by the results of quantitative studies in the field.
