Economically, it provides income and jobs. Socially and culturally, it can either strengthen identity or erode authenticity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Case studies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From an economic standpoint, heritage tourism holds great potential. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visitors bring income through entrance fees, lodging, dining, and craft markets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Successful examples include the Old Village Kumrovec, where traditional crafts and workshops boost local businesses. Another is the Batana Eco-Museum in Rovinj, where maritime traditions have transformed into a sustainable tourism product. Local residents often feel displaced when their neighborhoods or cultural practices are overshadowed by tourist demands. This is especially evident in historic city centers, where rising prices, housing shortages, and overcrowding drive locals away. Venice, which sees over 20 million tourists each year, exemplifies how mass tourism can overwhelm cultural treasures. Machu Picchu also suffers from erosion and damage due to heavy foot traffic, forcing officials to restrict visitor numbers.These examples show that tourism can undermine the heritage it celebrates if it\u2019s not managed well. Mass tourism causes environmental harm, social conflicts, and cultural dilution.
